Sugar's NHL Picks

Sunday NHL Picks – Go to church Bob
Nashville @ Chicago (-1.5) (L)
The Preds head to the Windy City looking to not get embarrassed.  Chicago will be without Patrick Kane for an indefinite amount of time.  This won’t matter much against Nashville since they have a slew of forwards to step up and fill Kane’s spot.  I expect the Blackhawks to win 5-1 tonight.
Sugar’s Pick: Chicago -1.5

Toronto (+1.5) @ New Jersey (Winner!)
The Devils have almost no shot at making playoffs.  Meanwhile the Leafs are in the trenches of the wild card fight.   Every game from here on out is a must win situation.  Toronto has been playing playoff style hockey lately in their fight to prolong their season.  I expect the Leafs to out match the Devils’ intensity and come away with 2 points in New Jersey.
Sugar’s Pick: Toronto +1.5

Florida @ Anaheim (-1.5) (WINNER!)
LuongoThe Panthers are another team that has no shot at the post season. The Ducks, on the other hand, are primed for a deep playoff run.  The only thing standing in the way of a blowout victory for Anaheim is Florida goalie, Roberto Luongo.   Remember the younger Luongo?  Florida’s goalie from 2000-2006 that was a brick fucking wall.  He was supposed to be the guy that could win any decent team a Cup.  Well in 2006 he was given the chance when he got traded to Vancouver.  History was made and, like those nights Bobcat had in Spokane, we all were left wondering what the fuck happened.  When it was all over, Luongo had been forced out of the starting spot by Corey fuckin Schneider and an entire city despised him.  Now he’s back on the Panthers and has been playing his ass off; oh the irony. Nevertheless, the Ducks will steam roll the Panthers tonight I predict.
Sugar’s Pick: Anaheim -1.5

Minnesota @ Detroit (-120) (L)
This is the second game in two game home and home series between these two.  Yesterday was a very even game.  The shots were 30-30 and the score was 3-2 with Detroit on top.  Tonight’s game is in the Joe and the Wings have won 3 in a row.  Last night’s game moved Detroit up to a tie with the Caps for the last wild card spot.  With Babcock at the helm I expect the Wings to buckle down and continue to roll.  These are dark days for Hockeytown.  Making the playoffs is not something us Wings fans typically worry about.  Babcock’s job isn’t on the line but he sure as hell doesn’t want to be the coach that ends the 22 year playoff streak in Detroit.  Wings roll at home.

Sugar’s Pick: Detroit -120
