Ladies and Gentlemen, boy and girls grab your giant, most ridiculous hat possible and head on down to the Churchhill Downs. Today is the Kentucky Derby, which is basically Horse Super Bowl for Las Vegas, and what kind of a sports gambling advice blog would we be if we didn't make official Dirty Picks horse picks. The way I see it after years of extensive equestrian research (20 minutes on google) there are really four options you can go with to win this year'a derby.
Danza (8 to 1)
The only reason I am even picking this horse is because his riders name is Joe Bravo! Joe fuckin Bravo! Doesn't that sound like the name of a soon to be Triple Crown winner? I can see the headlines now "Bravo makes glue out of competitors". Throw a hundred down on this horse and watch him outrun the competition to the tune of at least three and half lengths (no idea what that means).
California Chrome (5/2) (WINNER!)
This years favorite. The real deep gamblers will immediately drop hard facts on you, including the fact that only 5 out of the last 34 favorites have actually won the race. But what does that really mean? So fuck the field, take the safe bet and win some quiet cash.
General A Rod (15/1)
Not the biggest long shot in the field, but certainly not expected to win. This horse has apparently had a solid career leading up to this point, but the real kicker is here is that the rider won last years Derby. So obviously this guy known how to ride this horse to victory (literally). Look for the rider to push the tempo and General A Rod to get out of the gates quick.
So there are three really solid picks and undoubtedly the winner will emerge from that group. If you really want to live dangerously who should you go with? Let me ask you a question. Do you like making money? Because if you do throw your money on...
Wildcat Red (15/1)
Not only am I partial to any sort of catz, but this horse is described online as a "consistent colt". Well I don't know of any better occasion for a "consistent colt" than the race described as "consistently tough to win". Also this horse has won 4 of 7 races all the time and is primed to shock the world and steal this Derby. Enjoy the upset win today and feel free to use any of this information in conversation with your horse friends so that you look really smart.
