NYJ-E-T-S (-3, +130) vs. Chicago
Warning: This pick is completely biased and much more based on my own personal views, than any kind of smart, gambling technique.
The Jets made it a habit last year of rebounding after tough losses to score a victory the following week. It is early in the season, but I completely expect the same thing from the Jets tonight as they host the Bears. Now if you watched the Jets play the Pack last weekend, you would know that their biggest concern is definitely the secondary that was shredded by Aaron Rodgers and Jordy Nelson in the second half and ultimately squandered a 21-3 lead resulting in an embarrassing loss. Enter Jay Cutler and the duo of Alshon Jeffrey and Brandon Marshall. On paper, this match up definitely favors the high powered Bears offense, but I think Rex makes enough adjustments to hide his deficiencies in the secondary. Look for a lot of ground and pound from the Jets, and a couple of patented force throws from Cutler as he tries to fit a needle into a haystack (that's the expression right?) and gets picked at least two times. Bears will keep this one close, but the Jets should be able to rebound well enough to score a 27-20 type victory.
Monday Afternoon Baseball Parlay
Chicago White Sox @ Detroit Tigers -1.5 (+115)
Taking 2 out of 3 games in KC gave Detroit a solid division lead with few games remaining. The Tigers are going to look to continue rolling and not give Kansas City a chance of making anything interesting. Lobstein’s been solid for the Tiger’s while Sanchez has been out with an injury. There’s rumors floating around about Sanchez making a return but apparently it won’t be happening tonight. Regardless, Detroit’s bats should have no problem putting this game out of reach.
Kansas City Royals @ Cleveland Indians – OVER 6.5 (-110)
Kansas City is a must win situation, if they want to have a chance at a wild card spot. I expect the Royals to be on point with their hitting. 7 runs isn’t a whole lot regardless so this one should definitely go over.
