Colorado @ NY Rangers (-170)
Colorado's 4 wins has landed them dead last in the Central Division of the West. The Rangers are coming off a 5-0 thrashing of the Pittsburgh Penguins. They should roll tonight at home against a struggling Avs squad.
Winnipeg (EVEN) @ Carolina
The Jets have turned some heads this year with a solid stretch of wins. Carolina has 5 wins; 4 of them in their last 5 games. They're not playing the same garbage hockey they started the year off with to say the least. I like the Jets on the road here for some reason. I think they're a lot better than people like to give them credit for.
Boston @ Montreal
OVER 5 (-130)
Boston got stomped out last night in Toronto. Montreal is typically tough to beat at home. It's rarely talked about but, playing in Montreal is like playing in a totally different country. Everything is in French, the announcer speaks French, most of their players speak French, the refs probably speak French; again everything is French. It's hard enough being a visiting team in an arena that doesn't like you. It's even worse when they're screaming at you in a foreign language. I think Montreal wins this one but I don't like picking against Boston in a rivalry game. They have the guys that step up when it's showtime. Nevertheless, the over is solid here. It's 5 not 5.5.
San Jose @ Tampa (-145)
San Jose is coming off 2 straight losses on the road. Tampa is leading the East currently with 24 points, which is no surprise. This Lightening offense has a potent combination of skilled players, lead by captain snipe show: Steven Stamkos. Personally, I think Tampa is on the verge of dominating the East for the next half decade. Unless Detroit, in the most controversial trade in hockey history, picks up Stamkos and GM Steve Yzerman. But until that happens: Tampa rolls at home, Stamkos snipes, Johnson kills every penalty, and Filppula leaves you wondering if he's ridiculously talented or just extremely lucky.
Nashville @ Saint Louis (-160)
Both of these teams are dirty. Both are top 5 in the West. My pick is the Blues for 3 reasons: they're at home, they have a more talented offense, and Tarasenko might be the best goal scorer on the planet right now.
Buffalo @ Minnesota
UNDER 5 (-125)
When it comes to Minnesota I have no fucking idea what's going on. They might be the best team on the planet or they might finish in the bottom 3 of the NHL. Depending on the night, you could make solid arguments for either. Buffalo sucks though that's a given. This game has under written all over it.
Arizona @ Calgary
OVER 5.5 (+115)
No particular reason other than I wanted to go against the norms. Zona can score a couple but I think Calgary goes off on this weak ass desert dwelling hockey club.
Dallas @ Los Angeles (-140)
LA is coming off a shootout loss to the Ducks. They're going to roll over the Stars at home I almost guarantee it.
SAC (+6) vs MEM
BKN (+10) vs GS
Taking two underdogs on the road against western conference powerhouses?? Has the Catz finally gone off the deep end? Possibly, that's why these two picks are the best bets on the board. Memphis can't score enough to blow teams out by more than 3-5 points and giving the Nets 10 points is a few points too many. Best case scenario here is that the two favored teams play sloppy throughout, narrowly pulling out a 3-4 point win.
