Tuesday Nigh NHL Pickings

Detroit -1.5 (+140) @ Buffalo

Tonight is game 5 of Detroit’s coast to coast road trip.  The Wings are 2-2 through 4 games with losses to Washington and Vancouver.  Buffalo was bad earlier this season, and now they’re fucking terrible.  They’ve won 1 game since December 15th and have lost 11 of their last 12.  in those 11 losses the Sabres have scored a whopping 16 goals.  Detroit has a easy opportunity to pick up 2 important points on the road tonight.  I don’t expect them to blow it.

OVER/UNDER Pick:  OVER 5 (-115)

Colorado (+115) @ Carolina

Despite struggling this season, the Avs have put together some good hockey recently.  3-2 in their last 5 with their losses coming against the Bluejackets and the Caps, both teams are on fire right now.  I think Carolina has been winning some games by catching teams with their guard down.  Since the Avs are desperate for points, I don’t think that will be an issue tonight.

Minnesota @ Pittsburgh -1.5 (+140)

I don’t know what’s going on over in Minneapolis but I can bet the rink is not a fun place to be these days for anyone in the Wild organization.  Minnesota heads to Pittsburgh having won only 3 of their last 10 games.  Those are Buffalo-style numbers if you ask me.  Pittsburgh is not the team anyone wants to play when they’re struggling.  The Penguins offense is loaded with players who will pick teams apart if they aren’t on their game.

Vancouver @ Smashville (-155)

How good are the Preds this year?  To give you an idea: they haven’t lost 2 consecutive games yet this season.  That particular stat is meaningless tonight since Smashville is riding a 3 game win streak; but it’s impressive no the less.  An impressive stat that does apply to tonights game? Smashville has lost 3 games at home this season.  The Music City is the team to beat in the League right now and they’re ready for the challenge it seems.  The Nucks aren’t the team that’s going to go in and take 2 points.

Edmonton @ Saint Louis -1.5 (EVEN)

After a month and half stretch of losing 20 out of 21 games, Edmonton has become a prime money maker for sports betters.  They’re as close to a sure thing as you can get.  The Blues have won 4 straight, but more importantly, have scored 25 goals in the last 4 games.  They are blowing teams out right now.  Edmonton is in for a rough night.

OVER/UNDER Pick: OVER 5.5 (+105)

Florida +1.5 (-245) @ Winnipeg 

I really don’t like this pick.  I’ve switched back and forth between the Jets ML and the Panthers plus the points probably 7 times in the past 2 minutes.  Since I have more important things to do (like figuring out how to spend all my winnings from the College Football Playoff) I’m rolling the Panthers plus the 1.5.  Basically Florida is rolling on the road right now and the Jets are inconsistent.  I think the game will be decided by 1 either way.
