Thirst Trap Thursday NHL Picks
New Jersey @ Boston (-175)
After an OT win in Pittsburgh last night, the Boston Bruins will host the Devils 24 hours later. Despite New Jersey’s 4-1 record over the last 5, I don’t have any faith in them tonight. With Tuuka Rask in net the Bruins are tough to score on. The Devils don’t have an elite offense compared to Pittsburgh and the Pens struggled to get anything in the net last night. I like Boston at home.
Washington (-110) @ Philadelphia
I rolled a Caps pick last night and they came through so I’m rolling one again. It’s Washington’s second road game in as many days but they head into tonight with momentum. Philly should give them a good game at home but if the Caps offense is half as good as last night then they will pick up another win.
Buffalo (+170) @ Carolina
Sabres on the road in Cane Country!! This match up should be a real barn burner!! Buffalo is the lowest scoring team in the league (1.9 GPG) and Carolina is the second worst (2.0 GPG). Yes it is true, Buffalo has lost 5 straight games and 9 out of their last 10. Today’s a new day though and today they’re playing Carolina. The Canes have lost 12 of their last 16 and just might be one of the only teams on earth worse than the Sabres. Buffalo on the road, ROLL IT!
Bonus Pick: UNDER 5 (-120)
Chicago -1.5 (+180) @ Minnesota
Chi-town has been floundering lately which just means they’re due to explode on someone for 8 goals. Will tonight be that night? Minnesota has given up 11 goals in 2 straight losses heading into tonight. In other words, the stars are aligned for P. Kane to break some ankles and Hossa to drop some stink bombs.
San Jose @ Saint Louis -1.5 (+170)
The Blues have scored 13 goals in their last 2 games while giving up only 2. One of those 2 games was a 7-2 win on the road in San Jose. Just 5 days later the teams meet again and I expect the same result. The Blues’ offense is on FIRE right now. Saint Louis should roll at home with Tarasenko and Oshie leading the way.
Dallas @ Smashville (-170)
Nashville has had no problems beating the average NHL teams this year. The Preds are 7-3 in their last 10 with those losses coming against Chicago, Anaheim, and Boston. What that says to me is, it takes a damn good hockey team to beat the Predators. Dallas is not a damn good hockey team. Smashville at home FTW.
Bonus Pick: UNDER 5.5 (-115)
7 of the last 10 meetings between these 2 clubs have gone under.
Winnipeg -1.5 (+245) @ Arizona
Winnipeg has won 5 straight games against Arizona; outscoring the Yotes 17-6 during those games. The Jets have been successful in finding consistent scoring this year. A problem that has plagued them since their return to Winnipeg. Arizona allows 3.3 goals per game which is among the worst in the league.
