NHL Picks

SATURDAY NIGHT NHL PICKZ

Nashville (-110) @ Minnesota

The Predators will be looking for their 5th win in 6 games tonight when they take on a Minnesota team that hasn't won 2 consecutive games in almost 2 months.  On November 20th the Wild beat the Flyers for their 4th straight win and held a record of 11-7-0.  Fast forward to today, the Wild have dropped 9 of their last 11 and hold a record of 18-16-5.  I’m not a traditional “numbers’ guy”, but the numbers here are unavoidable.  Of course there is always a chance that Minnesota surprises everyone, beats a good hockey team, and leaves their fans wondering where the team they had 2 months has been.  If you want a safer bet go with Smashville on the +1.5 spread.  Minnesota has only won 2 games by 2 or more goals since November 24th.

Bonus Pick: OVER 5 (-145)

Nashville has had 11 STRAIGHT games with 5 goals or more.

Dallas @ Colorado (-115)

Colorado is 7-3 in their last 10 games.  This also happens to be their best stretch of 10 games this season.  Dallas stands exactly 1 point ahead of Colorado in the Central Division standings.  Both teams are in a substantial hole, however both teams are definitely not out of the playoff race.  A win tonight would be huge for the Avs and they are set up to make it happen.

Detroit @ Washington (-120)

The Caps’ run as of late might be unparalleled in the league.  In the past 16 games, Washington is 11-1-4; having lost only 1 game in regulation time.  Ovi has scored goals in 5 consecutive games and appears to be hitting his stride midseason.  Detroit has had 2 days off on their road trip after going 2-1 against the Western Canadian clubs.  As much as I like the Wings, I think they’re walking into a snipe show in Washington.

Ottawa (-105) @ Arizona

My confidence in this pick is a 6/10 just so you know.  These teams are 4 points apart in the standings and very similar clubs.  Both teams severely lack consistency, meaning this game could have absolutely any outcome.  My money is on Ottawa though.

NY Islanders @ Columbus (EVEN)

All I have to say is Columbus lost last night and they haven’t lost consecutive games since mid November.  Bluejackets at home are a solid bet.

Winnipeg @ Los Angeles (-190)

Both teams have been playing sub par lately.  As a result, both teams have won 1 out of their last 5 games.  I like the defending champs at home though if I had to make a pick.   Those guys aren’t the ones that you expect to lose 5 out of 6 games.

Carolina @ Saint Louis -1.5 (+135)

Where’s all those people who shit a brick because Nathan MacKinnon wasn't on my “Top 5 Rising Stars” list last season?  Well, if you’re reading this and you’re one of those people please have the self respect to admit how ignorant you actually are.  Mac Daddy is straight chilling right now with 7 goals and 17 assists while rocking a -10 GAA.  Those 2 guys you idiots thought didn't deserve to be on the list, Tyler Johnson and Vladimir Tarasenko? Well Johnson is currently tied at 3rd in the league in points with 2 guys named Patrick Kane and Evgeni Malkin, and that other guy Tarasenko is currently residing at 3rd in the league in goals scored with 22.  About this pick though, Carolina sucks; St. Louis is really good.
