FRIDAY'S TOP 5 FREE BEST BETS

ORL -4 vs. BKN

Yep, that's me on the subway platform as the Nets train rolls right on by!! I sold all my Brooklyn stock after the Jarrett Jack injury and looked like a genius after they laid an egg at home scoring only 74 points against the Raptors on Wednesday night. The only bright spot for the Nets is center Brook Lopez, and his production will at least be matched tonight by fellow plodding old-school center for the Magic, Nikola Vucevic. Still don't understand why Brooklyn hasn't made a single trade to help their long term outlook, but I'll take the easy win here.

DEN +6 vs. MEM

Anytime you bet on a team like Denver, you better hope you got a big ole set of balls in your drawers because it's dangerous. Some nights Denver will come out and actually compete with teams that they have no business even being on the same floor as, and some nights they shoot 1-34 from 3 and get blown out by thirty. Luckily for the point takers here, Memphis isn't the type of team that's going to blow you out by thirty, especially when their backcourt of Lee and Conley is questionable to play.

CLE -10 vs. MIN

Remember when the Wolves were competing for the 8th seed in the West early in the season?? Man those were fun times for the young Minnesota team, but those days are over now. Both of their young stars have hit mini slumps, most likely because teams are game planning for them now, whereas in earlier contests they might have just said "well, let's see what these kids have before we make adjustments". All the talk on the ESPN broadcast will be about Kevin Love's return to 'Sota, but the real story here is that LeBron doesn't lose to the Wolves ever. The last time a Wolves team beat the Cavs with LeBron? Nov 26th, 2005!!

DAL +1 vs. MIL

Dallas beat the Pelicans two nights ago when four of their top guys sat out!! That tells me this is a well coached team, that knows their identity and executes accordingly. Milwaukee is basically the exact opposite kind of team. They have no real identity, don't do anything particularly well, and have failed to meet any of the lofty expectations placed on them before the season. I guess ending the Warriors streak was enough for them this season, because they haven't done jack shit since...take the point here.

SAS -14 vs. NYK

I'll have to go back and check the records, but I believe this is the largest amount of points I have ever given in an NBA pick!! If you know me, you know my betting style is easy, when in doubt take the damn points!! But if you watch the NBA, you know how dominant this Spurs team has been lately. It doesn't matter who sits, who the offense goes through, who's on the opposing team; they destroy everybody!! The Knicks are a perfect candidate for a 30 point blowout too, because after Kawhi, the man-octopus, neutralizes Melo, NY is basically out of scoring options. I won't be surprised if this game ends up in the 114-73 range in favor of San Antonio.
