IND +2.5 vs. MIA
I wonder if Miami fans care that their team went from perennial title contender to an underachieving non-playoff team with one superstar on the verge of retirement and the other dealing with unexpected medical ailments in back to back years? Do they care or do they just walk outside and say "Fuck it, I live in Miami!" I don't know, but what I do know is the Pacers are going to take care of business tonight and get this win while breaking a sweat.
TOR -3.5 vs. NYK
So the Knicks didn't trade Melo and probably won't make the playoffs this year right? So what exactly is their incentive to win a bunch of games after the all-star break? I can't find any reasons. Expect the losing to start tonight and two weeks from now when Melo starts sitting out games because of a back or foot to prevent serious injury, don't be surprised if the Knicks lose 18 out of 20 or something tragic like that.
BOS -4.5 vs. MIN
There are two types of NBA players during all-star weekend. There are the vets who use it as a time to rest and recharge the batteries for the post season run like LeBron James or Chris Paul. Then there are the young guns who come out trying to prove themselves and dominate every event they can get themselves entered in to. That includes the non-NBA sanctioned events such as binge drinking and groupie chasing. If you have watched LeBron these last two games he looks fresh and ready to go. On the other hand if you have watched the Wolves rookies, they look tired and worn out. Boston didn't have any all-stars, so their guys got to spend the entire week relaxing and getting ready for the second half of the season and it shows so far. Celtics will win this game easy against a young, tired Wolves team post all-star break.
Like most degenerate gamblers out there, we want to spend the bulk of our cash on actual gambling, not paying for half-assed picks. So we created this blog, not only to track our own rampant failure, but to share it with the world! TOP 3 NBA PICKS
DEN +7.5 vs. WAS
Question of the day, what is going to break out of this cold slump first, the Wizards offense or the DC area?? Hey Yo!! Thanks folks, I'll be here all week. Seriously though you have to wonder if the recent winter storms pounding DC have affected the Wizards somehow. Maybe they are getting those super pumped up crowds in the building, because they have looked pretty pathetic in their last two games. Meanwhile the Nuggets are the super sneaky backdoor cover team of the week after a fantastic pull out last night that rivals any of mine from my college days. I wish this Nuggets team actually won games, but they are 7-3 ATS in their last ten, so its an easy points grab here.
NYK +10 vs. TOR
The TNT special of the night!! Hopefully Melo gets the go after sitting the last few games, which would make this points grab that much more palatable. Either way, in Porzingis we trust and that is exactly what this pick is based on. Toronto is a good team, but the Knicks have a few sneaky good defensive guys that can do enough on Lowry and Derozan to help them get this cover.
NOP vs. SAC -3
BOOGIE!!! The grown ass man-child known as DeMarcus Cousins has been on an absolute tear lately!! He is destroying front lines against everybody and will probably get to face a Pelicans team without Anthony Davis, because in a rare turn of events, the Brow is injured!! No way!! Anthony Davis got hurt?? Crazy. Davis better start putting in extra work in the gym to learn how to handle the rigors of an NBA season, because a few more injuries and he might be headed down the Greg Oden path of what-if he stayed healthy story lines. I would lay at least 6 point on this line, so three is perfectly acceptable.

NBA PICKS OF THE DAY!
PHI vs. DET -12
We have a saying around the Dirty Picks office, "the more you hate a line, the better it is for gambling purposes". So I have great news! This line is basically the Kardashian family if you ask me. The Pistons are one of my favorite teams in the NBA, but they lack the fire power to blow out teams, even a team like the Sixers. Oh and the Sixers have been playing really well of late, even being favored last night against the Suns, and covering the line while winning the game!! Proceed at your own risk on this one, but it makes me uncomfortable, and usually when it comes to lines what makes you uncomfortable makes you money.
DEN +9.5 vs. BOS
Basically if you take what I said in the first paragraph and replace the team names with Denver and Boston we have the exact same principle at play here. The Nugs are terrible on the road, and even worse in the city of Boston. But are the Celtics really a team that should be giving 9.5 points to anyone in the league?? I don't think so. Love the points grab here, would not be surprised if the Nuggets even go as far as getting the upset victory in Beantown.
HOU +10 vs. SAS
The over-hyped match up between the Spurs and Warriors on Monday turned in to quite the one sided affair, as Chef Curry and Co absolutely embarrassed the Spurs and coach Pop.You know who doesn't like being embarrassed? Greg Popovich. So this is an easy cover right? Spurs get back on track and resume their title of being the second best team in the league with a blowout victory over Houston? Easy money right. Not today big man, not today. Rockets get the upset victory and ESPN gets a solid week of leading with the story "Are the Spurs overrated??".
DAL +17 vs. GSW
My god. Did you watch that game on Monday?? Steph Curry made Kawhi Leonard look like a freshmen JV player attempting to guard a D1 athlete in a game of pickup. THE DEFENDING DPOY was put on skates multiple times by the Chef en route to a huge Warriors victory. So why would anyone pick the Mavs here?? I don't know. But I feel like there is some let down potential in this game for the Warriors because it is not nearly as hyped as Monday's match up. Golden State still wins this one easy, but don't be surprised if the final score is a little bit closer than this line would lead you to believe.

MLK DAY TOP 5 LOCKS!!
CHA vs. UTA +2.5
The Hornets are in an absolute tailspin after losing center Al Jefferson, first to a suspension and then an injury. Losers of 9 out of their last 10, makes this an easy point grab for the always feisty Jazz.
MEM vs. NOP +4
We all know how much Anthony Davis loves playing against undersized power forwards, or at least I assume that he does. Sure Memphis has Marc Gasol to stand behind Z-Bo and at least contest the Brow's shots, but defensively and rebounding AD is going to be an absolute nightmare against this front line. Ryan Anderson has also been playing better of late since he started getting mentioned in trade rumors, maybe he is trying to improve his stock so that the Pelicans get a better offer for me, what a guy.
ORL +7.5 vs ATL
The Magic getting 7.5 points??? I must be dreaming!! I would take this line if the Magic were playing someone like the Cavs, but against the Hawks this is free money!!
GSW +3 vs. CLE
This is one of those lines that hurts me to throw out, even though I know it is the smart play. I want the Cavs to win this game, as a matter of fact I would even say there's a very good chance that they win this game. But Golden State has lost 2 out of 3 and beat the Cavs previously in this series, so the smart play here is to take the points. Cleveland has had trouble during crunch time against great teams, hopefully those struggles continue tonight in the city known as the mistake by the lake.
DAL +1.5 vs. BOS
This game features two of the best coached teams in basketball, and will be a straight up execution-fest. Watch this one if you like set plays being run over and over, proper screens being set, and more back door cutz than Future's latest mixtape. In the end I like the Mavs only because they are coming off a blowout in San Antonio, and should find playing against Boston much easier than dealing with the Spurs.

New Years Resolution NBA Picks
Catz
My new years resolution was to offer up high quality, stone cold NBA locks!!
TOR +8 vs. CLE
Toronto had their absolute worst showing of all time on Sunday, giving up forty points to Jimmy Butler in the second half of their game!! I expect the Raptors to bounce back with a concentrated team effort after that kind of embarrassment. In the Land of the King aka the mistake by the lake, the King finds himself battling a small case of the sniffles. Shouldn't be enough to dramatically affect his performance, but I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to take it down a notch and play only 20-25 minutes tonight. Raptors bounce back and get a victory in Cleveland after their worst defensive performance since the 81 point Kobe debacle.
BOS -7.5 vs. BKN
You know I am really starting to feel bad for the Nets. Every time they get a surprise victory or play a team closer than expected, the next day they get a brutal season ending injury to one of their core pieces. This time it was PG Jarrett Jack aka the only thing they had close to a professional point guard on the roster. I expect for the next few games the Nets are going to get blown the fuck out as Shane Larkin learns what it is like to be the everyday floor general. Give all the points you can on the Nets until Vegas figures it out and starts giving them 13, 14 a night to make it fair.
BJones
MIN @ PHI +6.5
I must be out of my damn mind. At the beginning of the year I thought about betting against the sixers every game (14-21 ATS). Well, after they made the big move for Ish Smiff and brought in some actual basketball minds, the Sixers have found a competitive will worth betting on. The T Wolves seemed like a fun team to pick this year. Then you realize they're not well coached and they have two star players that are not quite ready yet. Something is just off with this team and tonight, I think they squeak out a 4 or 5 point victory as KAT dominates both sides of the ball.
